UFO Sighting, Really?

UFO sightning

If you have spent a few years full-timing or even just seasonal traveling, I am sure you have tales about the many strange sights appearing in the skies along the way. Sometimes I have pulled off to the side of the road just to observe something floating or streaking across the sky.

My biggest fright happened when one of our own secret invisible(almost) spy planes appeared just over my head in the night sky. It took my breath away, the noise and just seeing the flames shooting out the back.

Most of the images I have seen, particularly while traveling in the desert, are too high to really identify. Sometimes the shapes are unconventional, round, square, or triangle.

Last year the Pentagon released an image of an Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP) that turned out to be a drone. This Pentagon UAP office investigated hundreds of reports in 2022. They claim to explain more than half of those events, but what about the rest.

Visit this NPR article for more information on this sighting.

The All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence announced to the public that their criteria for UAPs are that they “appear to have demonstrated unusual flight characteristics or performance capabilities, and require further analysis.” This newly formed office has received 366 reports indicating a sharp rise since June of 2021.

The National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2022 required the Director of National Intelligence, in consultation with the Secretary of Defense, to submit an annual report to Congress on unidentified aerial phenomena. Just to keep us on our toes, the new report states, “Additional information is provided in the classified version of this report.” The unclassified report is available to the public, go take a look.

The government’s position is still the same as in previous years. Ronald Moultrie, the undersecretary of defense for intelligence and security indicates “We have not seen anything that would … lead us to believe that any of the objects that we have seen are of alien origin, if you will.”

For more human experiences, check out Cheri Sicard’s article in RVTravel.com, Have you ever seen a UFO while RVing?”  Love that UFO graphic she uses with her story.

Most RVers with time on their hands have visited the well-known UFO sites listed by Gail Marsh (RVTravel.com) in this article, Wacky, weird UFO sites to visit in the U.S.

To wind up this train of thought, take a look at this map that indicates where in the country UAP/UFO clusters are found (according to this unidentified mapmaker).

Troubleshooting saves you money by knowing what needs to be done before you call the repairperson. Since most of the maintenance is simple, keeping a maintenance calendar works for most owners.

You have heard many times, “Take care of your vehicle and it takes care of you.” That type of care and maintenance is the focus of “Conquer the Road: RV Maintenance for Travelers.”

Also included are RV driving tips, cargo weight balance information, and seasonal storage input. This is all information that can be used daily, so pick up a copy and keep it close.
